Qatar Free Zones and Feadship Partner to Transform Marsa Port into Gulf’s Premier Superyacht Hub

On 26 September 2025, Qatar Free Zones (QFZ) formalised a Memorandum of Understanding with Feadship to transform Marsa Port, located in Umm Alhoul Free Zone, into a leading superyacht hub in the Gulf. Qatar’s maritime sector is projected to grow 7.4 percent annually through 2030, making this initiative a strategic investment for owners, investors, and industry stakeholders.

The agreement was signed during the 34th Monaco Yacht Show by QFZ CEO Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Faisal Al-Thani and Feadship Chief Commercial Officer Bas Nederpelt. Under the MoU, Feadship will provide advisory services to support the development of high-standard maintenance, repair, and refit (MRR) facilities. The partnership also covers contributions to custom yacht design, luxury innovation, and initiatives that engage the superyacht community worldwide.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasised, “Qatar is positioning itself as a premier destination for the superyacht market. With the highest ownership per capita in the region, our collaboration with Feadship strengthens Marsa Port’s role as the Gulf’s foremost hub for luxury yachts, generating tangible value for investors and owners.”

The collaboration is designed to attract global attention through events, bespoke owner experiences, and knowledge-sharing programmes. Bas Nederpelt noted, “Feadship is pleased to provide advisory expertise in line with Qatar’s vision. This partnership reflects shared standards of excellence and innovation in the superyacht industry.”

As part of its wider strategy, Qatar Free Zones aims to establish a sustainable marine cluster and draw leading international players. By combining infrastructure development with sector expertise, Marsa Port is set to become a high-profile centre for luxury yachts, reinforcing Qatar’s influence on the international maritime map.
