A new 90-metre superyacht concept is attracting attention in the yachting world for its bold approach to outdoor living.
Platea, unveiled by Monaco-based yacht design and architecture studio Lagaria, has been created around the belief that some of the best moments onboard happen outside. Rather than following a traditional layout focused heavily on enclosed interior volume, the concept places open-air living, social spaces and connection to the sea at the heart of its design.
One of Platea’s most distinctive features is its vast main deck, designed as a continuous social area with an open-plan bar, lounge, dining space, protected terrace, oversized pool, jacuzzi and additional full-service bar. Guest accommodation is positioned on the lower deck, allowing the yacht’s prime areas to be dedicated to shared experiences throughout the day.
This approach reflects a wider shift in superyacht design. Owners and charter guests are increasingly looking for yachts that offer more than luxury interiors; they want immersive spaces that support entertaining, relaxation, privacy and time spent close to the water.
For Mediterranean yachting, the concept feels especially relevant. In destinations such as Malta, Sicily, Sardinia and the French Riviera, life onboard is often centred around the deck, from alfresco dining and sunbathing to sunset drinks and swimming stops in secluded bays.
Platea highlights how the future of yacht design may be less about size alone and more about how intelligently space is used. By prioritising outdoor living and guest experience, the concept offers a fresh perspective on what modern luxury at sea can look like.
